The same idea, of collecting crude oil and its derivatives with the basic means of hair, was shared by a hairdresser from Alabama, USA, Phil McCory, in 1998.

With several validated studies, experiments and researches from governmental and non-governmental organizations, Phil McCory in collaboration with the Matter of Trust created 2 ecological filters that for the last 19 years have already stood as a lifeline in similar oil water pollution accidents (used in 2007 to deal with the oil spill from Cosco Busan in San Francisco / to 2010 also the same for the oil spill from BP Deepwater Horizon on the Gulf Coast etc.).

This particular oil accident technique has already been tested and approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, NASA, and the United States Air Force, as well as by a number of scientists who have conducted research to confirm it.
